Vauxhall Astra to star in Fashion Film

The new Vauxhall Astra GTC will be staring in a fashion film for James Small Menswear featuring Jamie Winstone. Konstantinos Menelaou will be directing the film which showcases the collection and declares Vauxhall Motor’s as sponsoring the British menswear designer of its support of Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

Vauxhall have kindly lent the designer a Vauxhall Astra GTC, and have worked together on a moving image showcase to present James’ collection, this will be shown on the Menswear day at Vauxhall Fashion Scout in Covent Garden.  
  
The film is about an attractive woman who spends time travelling to carwashes to look at men washing her car. She is referring to power and style as she signals the start of the carwash by pressing play on a boom box then the music stops and she drives off to the next car wash. It’s about reversing roles between men and women from the male fantasy of male power (car) being washed by the male desire (girl).

I think it’s a great idea to combine fashion with cars in this way, by presenting a powerful and sexy look for the Astra GTC. Vauxhall take home another award!


Vauxhall has been awarded the accolade of ‘Manufacturer Partner Over 10,000 Registrations’ by The Motability Scheme, Europe’s largest fleet. Vauxhall have won this award for the third time, so are recognised by Motability, the UK’s leading car scheme for disabled people.

"To take the top spot in this award, Vauxhall has worked with Motability Operations to offer 14 per cent of cars on the Motability Scheme with no advance payment, including models of all sizes,” said Motability’s judges.
Vauxhall provide a variety of models which benefit from low emissions and great safety and they have committed to proceed with this service. It is clear that they are not just known for their Motability but for their brilliant customer services and after sales. I would definitely recommend their car servicing, I took my Vauxhall Corsa to their car servicing in Hereford and found everyone extremely helpful, especially being a woman it was a pleasant experience where I didn’t get ripped off. I’ve also heard that Vauxhall car servicing in Worcester is a great place to visit.

Lotus Group unite with Norwich Football Club

Norfolk based Group Lotus have announced that they will be in partnership for 5 seasons with Norfolk exports Norwich City Football Club, this brings together two of the well-known sporting bodies in Norfolk and will allow Group Lotus to reach a wider football audience through branding and marketing.

The group Lotus includes 5 motorsport drivers which are, Nigel Mansell, Greg Mansell, Bruno Senna, James Rossiter and Ollie Jackson. The five drivers take on five NCFC players for a penalty shootout on the pitch at the announcement.

The relationship should work well as they share the same values such as “passion, performance and dedicated hard work” stated Group Lotus Chief Executive Officer, Dany Bahar. It will also give them a chance to talk to future Lotus admirers.

Access your car through an Application!

Volvo is way ahead when it comes to connectivity, they have a mobile application which allows the driver to keep in touch with their car and control or monitor it while it is parked via iPhone or smart phone.

Volvo want owners to be able to connect both in the car and when it is parked, as they like to design cars around peoples lifestyles and want people to be in control. This is a further step for Volvo Cars’ to provide Volvo owners with connectivity options. The

The app is a development of Volvo On Call, that concentrated on direct access to call centres in the event of an emergency. But now this has developed, from the year 2012 owners of new models can download the app which gives a variety of connectivity options.

The app has a variety of features such as, car locator, remote door lock, vehicle dashboard, car check, driving journal, vehicle information, theft notification and the original Volvo On call safety and security features.

I think this is a brilliant idea and other brands should follow this idea as it is so easy to use with the relevant information all in an app!

The only down side about this great idea is that it will only work on new 2012 models so if you have just bought a Volvo V50 Kent and Volvo C30 Kent you may need to upgrade nearer the time to use this new connectivity, but I reckon it’s a good excuse!

I Love my Dealer!

GForces an automotive web management company have thought of a brilliant scheme called, ‘I Love my Dealer’, the concept behind this is to reward customers who interact with their dealer’s Facebook page. Facebook is used by over 600,000,000 people and has a further 20,000,000 fans every day, so it would be crazy not to get involved. I think it’s a great incentive to encourage people to use social media and visit the dealer’s site.

The scheme benefits the dealer as it’s, cost effective, drives natural traffic to the Facebook page and website, produces viral marketing, creates a great customer relationship and is a digital and managed solution.  But at the same time it will be a challenge to see if the customer returns for the after sales service.

Rewards Scheme

Points are rewarded by social interaction, the more you interact the more points you obtain. The points are then allocated to rewards that can be won. Rewards are related to automotive such as, discount on servicing, money off new cars, free wiper blades/car mats, tyre fitting and free air conditioning recharge. This in turn should encourage customers to come back for more and become a loyal customer.

Gullands Solicitor behind bars for charity


Gullands Solicitors in Maidstone are keen on their charity law Kent so one of the legal representative’s is trading his freedom for 24 hours in a prison cell at Maidstone Police Station. Spencer Stacy is not doing this for fun but to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support, Spencer is a qualified Police Station Representative in the criminal team at Gullands Kent; this must have been a challenge for him as his normal day is spent representing people in police custody!

Spencer Stacey says: “People are often taking part in a sponsored walk, run or bike ride to raise money for charity but I wanted to do something a bit different. The majority of my professional life is spent in police custody suites representing those who have been arrested and trying to secure their release. I thought it would raise interest and money to spend 24 hours behind bars, which is also the maximum amount of time a suspect can be held in the first instance.”

Cancer is one of the most common causes of death which affects so many families in the UK; it’s good to know that people such as Spencer Stacey are willing to help charities who are saving lives every day.  Hopefully enough money will be raised to pay a nurse for a week.

New Vauxhall Insignia VXR achieves 170mph!

Vauxhall have released a new Insignia VXR which thanks to the de-restricted package can now go 170mph! This is known as the “Unlimited” option which removes the previous Insignia VXR’s 155mph restrictor to an even better package that enables the driver to take advantage of the all wheel drive function to the max.


There are various options that you can buy from New Vauxhall VXR Portadown with manual or auto transmissions and a choice of body styles such as Hatch, Saloon and Sports Tourer, the unlimited option can be included which is recognisable with a blue Brembo logo on the front brake callipers and a brand new speedometer and tachometer showing higher increments. With the turbocharged 2.8 litre V6 engine producing 325PS, it is the most advanced unit which lets the Insignia VXR accelerate from 0-60mph in 5.6 secondsfor the manual hatch, this time has not changed with the ‘Unlimited’ option. 

This improved performance gives owners even more comfort from the Insignia VXR’s advanced 4x4 system that gives the top traction in all conditions. This is done by using a sport differential with Haldex multi-disc clutch with an electronic centre and rear limited-slip differentials which is accoumpanied by Vauxhall’s Flexride, this gives the driver 3 options, standard, sport and VXR.


Safety

The “Unlimited” option must be checked for safety, durability and enjoyable to drive, these were
tested on the prototype  and were rated as ‘factor 18’ which relates to 112,000 miles on normal roads.

Vauxhall steal the show at the Fleet World Honours 2011

After attending the Fleet World Honours 2011Vauxhall came away with 3 awards, these consist of Best Upper Medium Car for the Insignia, Editor’s award for Vauxhall Commercial Vehicles along with the magazine’s Safety Award.



The Fleet World Honours took place at the Royal Automobile Club in London on 11 May 2011. These awards are presented yearly to companies and individuals who have achieved the greatest level of brilliance in the fleet industry, Vauxhall were extremely pleased with this recognition for all their hard work.
