There are two choices when it comes to
servicing a used
Yamaha. One option is to have the dealer
or local shop and the second option is to do it yourself. The dealer has the
necessary equipment and staff that can perform the needed tasks on a used
Yamaha. The mechanics can overhaul the engine, brake replacement, change tires
and perform other advanced repairs.
If Do It Yourself is chosen, then you
may want to follow the guidelines in the owner’s manual and repair manual for
the particular model of the Yamaha. Some used Yamahas may be tricky to work on
but having solid experience working on motorcycles will help you. You can pick
up parts from the dealership or automotive store to help fine tune the
motorcycle. The proper tools and parts will go further in restoring the bike to
road worthy; incorrect tools will strip bolts or nuts.
Sometimes it might be better for a shop
to handle the tougher repairs; in the end, it may be cheaper. Your local dealer
may have a shop or they can refer you to a reputable shop that can assist with
any repairs.
